Tania Sorge
Tania Sorge was part of our first graduating class at CCH. Tania began teaching within the Windsor-Essex Catholic School Board in 1996. Developing her skills a teacher, Tania went on to receive her Specialist in the area of Special Education, and is currently a VP within our board and is also an alumnus of the Windsor-Essex Leadership Program, projecting herself as leader among our community. For the last 7 years, Tania has been a Vice Principal with the WECDSB. Tania has been awarded and recognized with various community awards such as:

• Supportive and Palliative Care 2002
• AFP Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Group Award 2004
• Recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Award

Tania is proud to be celebrating 20years of fundraising through Transition to Betterness, a local not-for-profit organization in which she co-founded. Tania has put forth countless hours into T2B which have been invested into developing T2B’s programs, committees, board of directors, and fundraisers. On average Tania forth 10 – 15hrs of volunteer work per week, towards Transition to Betterness, which greatly affects the community of Windsor-Essex County. In 20 years T2B under the leadership of Tania has become a regional charity, and has been able to improve the resource of cancer care at Windsor Regional Hospital, Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital, and Leamington Memorial District Hospital. Tania has become inspirations to our entire community, and has shown no boundaries.
Currently Tania leads T2B as Co-Founder and Vice President of the Board of Directors. Tania has been involved in many joint community activities and projects in order to offer and create a positive and sustainable quality of life to cancer patients and families, in Windsor Essex County. Along with the T2B Action Committee, she has in the past 20 years received many great accomplishments and contributions, which much of it has been in correlation with the renovation and refurbishing of patient rooms at Windsor Regional Hospital, both at the Metropolitan and Western Campuses, Leamington District Memorial Hospital, and recently Hotel Die Grace Hospital. The projects at the hospital include various projects such as the completion of a new Palliative/ Medical Day Care Unit, Enhancement of a Quiet Room, Patient and Family Kitchen, Paediatric Oncology Satellite Unit, Comfort Cart Program, Music Therapy Program, Special Request Program, Pediatric Oncology Satellite Unit and much more. T2B also under the leadership of Tania has sponsored wonderful programs such a house within the Hospice Village, the Hospice Pain Management Program, Together in Caring, Carla Can Sing, The Clown Doctors, and list does go on. To date Transition to Betterness under their leadership has raised over $15million dollars for cancer patients and their families in the community.

Her eagerness to make a difference in the lives of all children she teaches is evident as she has received a Specialist in the area of Special Education. Tania worked with special needs students providing them with individual education programs and resource support. Tania’s emphasis the importance of assisting those with needs, and understands how effective resources do simplify individuals’ lives when challenged by an illness or disorder. She exemplifies and brings forward this notion the private sector of our community by involving them into the events of Transition to Betterness; or leads to become volunteers within Transition to Betterness, or other not-for-profit organizations that are meaningful to the individual. Tania does this be example, as she continues to work as a teacher, is a mother of three, and is a leader of local charity for the past 20 years.
